Razorpay SRE / Platform Engineer interview questions
Prepare for a Razorpay SRE or platform application with exercises in reliable event processing, operational diagnosis and communication. The hiring guidance below is company-wide; the payment examples come from public integration documentation and are our own practice scenarios.
Razorpay interview process: what the sources establish
LIMITED DATA ON ROUND SEQUENCE · SOURCES REVIEWED
Company-wide hiring guidance and public webhook documentation. No verified SRE-specific sequence, assessment duration or mandatory cloud stack.
Razorpay’s careers page describes three evaluation areas: role knowledge and practical thinking, collaboration and ownership, and using AI in work. It does not specify an SRE round sequence.
Hiring guidance: Razorpay Careers: How We Hire
Company-wide hiring areas. The AI area does not grant permission to use AI during an assessment.
Razorpay documents duplicate webhook events and delivery that can arrive out of order. Its validation guide uses the raw request body for signature verification and an event ID to identify repeated deliveries.
Engineering documentation: Razorpay Docs: Validate and Test Webhooks
Public integration behaviour. Useful exercise context; no evidence that this is an interview question.
How to prepare for Razorpay
These are our practice exercises, not reported interview questions. Adapt them to the responsibilities in your vacancy.
Handle a retry after the acknowledgement is lost
Our exercise: your webhook consumer commits an order update, but its response never reaches the sender. The event arrives again while a second worker is processing it.
Verify the signature against the raw bytes. Make duplicate detection and the business update atomic, for example with a unique event record in the same transaction. Explain how two different events for one payment interact; an event ID alone cannot prevent an invalid business transition. Test duplicates, reordered events and a crash before commit.
Practise consistency and failure scenarios →Choose an alert for payment-processing delay
Our exercise: queue depth doubles, yet processing latency stays within the service objective. Later the oldest unprocessed event starts approaching its deadline.
Define the user-visible delay you need to protect and show how arrival rate, processing rate and event age distinguish a healthy burst from a growing backlog. Explain an intervention, the evidence it needs and how you would communicate uncertain impact.

- Which platform or reliability team is hiring, and what production services would this role own?
- How are the published evaluation areas assessed for this role? Are AI tools permitted in any exercise, and under what rules?
